Clandon Wood Burial Reserve
As well as Dorking Cemetery, additional burial space for Mole Valley residents is provided at Clandon Wood Surrey Hills Burial Reserve.
The site, which includes a 31 acre wildflower meadow, wetland area and a beautiful timber and glass pavilion, has been dedicated as space for burials and the burial of cremated remains.
In an agreement between Mole Valley District Council and Clandon Wood, an area of the reserve has been allocated for Mole Valley residents who wish to purchase a plot for the same costs as those at Dorking Cemetery. It is the first such agreement in England and will provide burial space for at least 75 years.
Clandon Wood is a member of the Association of Natural Burial Grounds and the first natural burial took place there in September 2012. It won Best Natural Burial Ground in the UK in 2014 and 2015, cemetery of the year in 2014 and also has a Green Flag award.
It is recommended that residents wishing to use Clandon Wood should book a plot in advance - removing the stress for family members and guaranteeing the location of a final resting place.
