Planning Application Forms and Fees

This page contains information about completing a Planning Application, with links to most of the current forms.

Applying for Planning Permission

MVDC encourages electronic applications via the Planning Portal, the UK's planning and building regulations website. MVDC also accepts applications made by completing a form, available by using the links below, and returning it by email to: planning@molevalley.gov.uk or by post to: Planning Department, Mole Valley District Council, Pippbrook, Dorking, RH4 1SJ. To assist in completing the forms, links to the associated validation checklists and guidance notes are also provided.

Buy a map online

All applications must include a location plan based on an up-to-date map at a standard metric scale. The application site should be edged clearly with a red line. More information on requirements can be found by viewing 'Guidance Notes: Making a planning application' online (see 'Internet Links'). You can purchase site location plans for anywhere in the country through the National Map Centre website (see 'Buy Maps Online' under 'Internet Links'). Alternatively, maps can be purchased in person by visiting MVDC's Pippbrook offices in Dorking.

Planning Application Fees

The planning fees can be calculated using the Planning Portal's Fee Calculator (see 'Internet Links') or downloaded from the Planning Portal website (see 'Planning Application Fees valid from 31/01/17 (pdf)' under 'Internet Links'). If you are uncertain how the scale of fees applies to your proposal, please call 01306 885001 or email planning@molevalley.gov.uk.

Ownership of Land

If you do not own the site, or your proposed development will encroach on to or over land you do not own, you must complete Certificate B (included in the application form). Notice No.1 should also be completed and given to the owner of the site to inform them of the application. Notice No. 2 is for publication in a local newspaper. These forms can be completed online, or downloaded and printed using the links specific to your application in the table below.

Local Validation Checklist

The MVDC Planning Application Local Validation Checklist was updated in November 2016 to include the requirement for the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) (see 'Downloads'). The document details the national and local information requirements when making a planning application to MVDC. Applications that do not include all of the correct information cannot be validated, which can result in delays to you and your development.

CIL Forms

On 1st January 2017, MVDC introduced CIL. All planning applications now require an 'Additional Information Requirements Form' to be submitted. This, and other CIL forms that may be required during the planning process, can be downloaded below.
