Prudential RideLondon-Surrey

On Sunday 29 July, the annual Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic and 100 events will return to Surrey.

Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic, Sunday 29 July 2018, sees 150 of the world's top male cyclists starting from Horse Guards Parade and racing over much of the same route as the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100, with extended circuits of testing terrain to meet international race requirements. Live coverage of the race will be shown on BBC TV on Sunday 29 July.

Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100, Sunday 29 July 2018, will see 25,000 amateur cyclists take on a cycling challenge like no other through London and Surrey on a similar route to that of the London 2012 Olympic road races. The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 starts in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, goes out through London to Surrey's stunning country roads and hills before returning to the capital to finish in spectacular style on The Mall in front of Buckingham Palace.

For more information, please visit the Prudential RideLondon website or see the Prudential RideLondon booklet.

Organising a Cycling Event

When planning a cycling event, the organiser has prime responsibility for protecting the health, safety and welfare of everyone working at, participating in or viewing the event.

The Mole Valley Safety Advisory Group (SAG) works to ensure that events are safe and any disruption and inconvenience for residents is kept to a minimum. Some communities are heavily affected by cycling events, so in order to minimise disruption, the SAG aims to make event organisers aware of other conflicting events. For more information, visit 'Organising a large public event'.

Mole Valley District Council will need to be advised in writing to partnerships@molevalley.gov.uk of any road event with at least three months in advance so that safety measures can be discussed.

If a cycling event requires a road closure or crosses more than one district or borough, then the event organiser will need to gain permission for the event from Surrey County Council up to 12 months in advance. Further information can be found on Surrey County Council's website
