Kingston Road Skate Park
Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) is pleased to announce the design by skate park provider Wheelscape has been chosen as the winner. Construction to revamp the Kingston Road Recreation Ground skate park in Leatherhead will begin in the summer.
Wheelscape was successful in seeing off competition from two skate park providers whose dynamic designs were voted on as part of the final stage consultation in March. Voting forms submitted by users of the facilities and local residents were taken into consideration when deciding the winner. The new skate park will provide an exciting challenge for skaters, skateboarders and BMXers.
Kingston Road Skate Park Winning Design
Every effort will be made to keep the existing skate park available for use for as long as possible during construction.
The new skate park will be built in place of the car park currently located adjacent to the youth club in the recreation ground. The winning design included plans to transform the existing skate park into facilities aimed at appealing to a wider-audience, ranging from young children to adults, to encourage more people to come and enjoy the recreation ground.
MVDC's refurbishment of the skate park was boosted by £19,999 awarded to the project by the London Marathon Charitable Trust. The Trust supports projects which encourages people who are currently inactive to participate regularly in sport and physical activity.
