Welcome to Mole Valley Online / News / Archived News / February 2008 / FREE bus travel in EnglandFREE bus travel in EnglandTravelling by bus anywhere in England on scheduled local bus services will be FREE for Mole Valley residents over the age of 60, and eligible disabled people, from 1 April 2008 as the Government's new bus pass scheme comes into effect.Eligible disabled people and the over 60's who have already claimed their bus pass can look forward to free bus trips around London or beyond after 9.30am Monday to Friday, and at any time on weekends or public holidays. Those who haven't claimed their free bus pass can request an application form by visiting the Council offices at Pippbrook, Dorking; the HelpShop in Leatherhead or by telephoning 01306 885001. Councillor Tim Hall, Leader of the Council said: "We have worked long and hard alongside the other Surrey authorities to make this scheme as easy as possible for residents to use and to make sure no-one is disadvantaged by where they live. Free off-peak travel will be available across Surrey and England. I would encourage those people who are eligible, and who haven't already got their bus pass to apply for it now, so come the 1st April they can get on board for free." To be eligible for a Mole Valley bus pass, applicants must live in the Mole Valley District. If you live in another Borough or District you will need to apply to the Council where you live. You must also be aged 60 or more or have an eligible disability. To apply please call 01306 885001 for an application form.
